Kendall Davis: TikTok and Feeding America Champion

TikTok developed a first-ever game feature within its platform, The Garden of Good!

Garden of Good (SEE Distractify Article HEREultimately served as a fund raiser event organized by TikTok in a collaborative initiative with the non-profit facility, Feeding America!

Feeding America® is currently the nation's largest hunger-relief network of 200 food banks, 21 statewide associations and 60,000 partner food pantries and meal programs.

TikTok, is a short-form video hosting service owned by Chinese company ByteDanceTikTok is an international version of Douyin, which was originally released in the Chinese market in September 2016. TikTok was launched in 2017 for iOS and Android in most markets outside of mainland China; however, it became available worldwide only after merging with another Chinese social media service, Musical.ly, on 2 August 2018. TikTok surpassed 2 billion mobile downloads worldwide by October 2020.

Through June 6, 2021 to June 6, 2022, users of the TikTok platform (called TikTokers) were given the opportunity to build a garden, nurture it to maturity and eventually harvest those crops in exchange for a real-life monetary donation to Feeding America. For every donated harvest, TikTok vowed to donate a minimum of 50 cents or a maximum of $2 to Feeding America and local Feeding America Network Food Banks including All Faiths Food Bank. TikTokers have the freedom to make as many “harvests” as possible during the lifetime of the game!

Kendall Davis (@kendallisall on Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, TikTok) managed to earn thirteen badges out of the twelve that were made available to earn. They included; Carrot, Cabbage, Potato, Corn, Tomato, Lentils, Peanuts, Pear, Apple, Orange, Peach and Avocado. More recently towards April 2022, a new badge was made available, The "NEWBIE" badge (which Davis did not earn). Once a badge for a particular vegetable was earned the user would be presented with a certificate of donation. Bronze, Silver and Gold levels were also included.

It took 351.1 thousand drops of water to be poured within the game by Davis to earn those 13 badges and contribute 69 pounds of equivalent cash in donations on his behalf to help fight hunger!

Granted the game has been revamped and updated several times since it's initial launch. Different templates and layouts are various.
